Trail Life

Trail Life USA is the premier Christ-centered outdoor character development and adventure program centering on guiding young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others, and experience outdoor adventure. Boys in grades Kindergarten to High School Seniors are invited to join the Troop as a Woodlands (Grades K-5), Navigators (Grades 6-8) or Adventurers (Grades 9-12).

Chartered in 2014, Troop VA-717 is one of the original four Catholic Trail Life Troops currently serving the Diocese of Arlington and currently has 40+ Trailmen. The Troop incorporates its Catholic faith in all of its activities and meetings, in addition to serving both the parish and surrounding community through its service projects. Meetings are twice a month on a Thursday for one hour.

The Troop also plans a full year of fun outdoor adventures including two annual family camp-outs: October beach camping and a June camp-out in the local area. The K-5 Woodlands participate in local “Hit the Trail” hikes monthly. The older boys experience High Adventure trips that include backcountry backpacking, white water rafting, skiing, paint-ball, rifle shooting/training, zip line, mountain biking and other various activities
